Last Monday 20 May, the ZIACOM team gave a theoretical-practical workshop in Valencia on implant placement for the restoration of fully edentulous patients. The technique used describes the placement of four implants, two anterior implants positioned axially, and two posterior implants angled. This surgical procedure and dental prosthesis are indicated for the total restoration of edentulous patients.
The training was given by Dr Mariana Hernández, Product Technician at ZIACOM, to the students of the Master’s Degree in Advanced Oral Implantology at the European University of Valencia, in charge of Dr Pedro Mazón Esteve (Degree in Dentistry at the Ibero-American University, Official Master’s Degree in Advanced Oral Implantology at the European University, Master’s Degree in Occlusion and Oral Rehabilitation at ESORIB).
The workshop began with a short presentation by Dr Hernández on basic principles, biological considerations, indications, surgical protocol and the prosthetic characteristics of the restorations associated with this technique.
Dr Hernández gave a presentation on the features and indications of ZIACOM ZM8N and ZM8S implants, which were used in the hands-on workshop on resin models. Also, the third generation Chiropro surgical motors from the Swiss brand Bien Air Dental were used to perform the drilling techniques.
Finally, the students were explained the composition of the surgical box used, the protocol of the implants and the handling of the prosthetic abutments to be used; starting with the selection of XDrive transepithelials, the healing abutments, the impression transfer and the provisional abutments manufactured in PEEK.
As always, ZIACOM would like to thank Dr Mazón Esteve for his good disposition during the training and the European University of Valencia for trusting the ZIACOM brand to carry out training in its faculty.
